Analytical theories of the geodesic acoustic mode (GAM)are reviewed in the small-andlarge-orbit drift width limits, respectively.Different physics pictures in these two limits aredisplayed. As an example, these two analytical methods are employed to investigate the plasmashaping effect on the frequency and collisionless damping rate of the GAM.
A spectral diagnostic control system(SDCS) is developed to implement automatic process of the edge rotation diagnostic system on the J-TEXT tokamak. The SDCS contains a control module, data operation module, data analysis module, and data upload module. The core of this system is a newly developed software "Spectra Assist", which completes the whole process by coupling all related subroutines and servers. The results of data correction and calculated rotation are presented. In the daily discharge of J-TEXT, SDCS is proved to have a stable performance and high efficiency in completing the process of data acquisition, operation and results output.
The two-dimensional equilibrium with flexible boundaries is solved via using a MATLAB Equilibrium Code(MEC),which has applied the finite element method to handle the changeable plasma shape and employed the trust-region dogleg method to solve the nonlinear partial differential equation. The corresponding driven current profile is also calculated by coupling with the lower-hybrid simulation code(LSC).The results are applied to optimize the lower hybrid current drive(LHCD) efficiency for the Experimental Advanced Superconductor Tokamak(EAST) and suggested that both elongation and triangularity have a notable effect on the efficiency because of the competition between the increase in the resonant area and in the Shafranov shift. Moreover, large aspect-ratio has a negative effect on the efficiency. These effects are studied numerically, which might be considered carefully for both good plasma confinement and high LHCD efficiency.
Internal reconnection event(IRE),which is characterized by a perturbation inplasma current IP,loop voltage Vloop,Hα radiation and magnetic perturbation dBp,was observedin the SUNIST experiment. It is found that, the fluctuation before IREs is characterized by astructure of m=2/n=1,then changes torn=4/n=1 during the IREs;and, after IREs,themode number changes to m=3/n=1.An analysis in the evolution of equilibrium parametersduring IREs shows that a positive spike appears in the evolution of the plasma’s elongation anda negative spike in the poloidal beta of plasma.A collapse in the pressure profile, correspondingto the occurrence of IREs,is also found.
