Penetrating view of nano-structures in Aleochara verna spermatheca and flagellum by hard X-ray microscopy被引量:2

A penetrating view of the three-dimensional nanostructure of female spermatheca and male flagellum in the species Aleochara verna is obtained with 100-nm resolution using a hard X-ray microscope, which provides a fast noninvasive imaging technology for insect morphology. Through introducing Zernike phase contrast and heavy metal staining, images taken at 8 keV displayed sufficient contrast for observing nanoscale fine structures, such as the spermatheca cochleate duct and the subapex of the flagellum, which have some implications for the study of the sperm transfer process and genital evolution in insects. This work shows that both the spatial resolution and the contrast characteristic of hard X-ray microscopy are quite promising for insect morphology studies and, particularly, provide an attractive alternative to the destructive techniques used for investigating internal soft tissues.

基于X射线相衬成像技术的光栅品质无损检测(英文)

提出了一种基于X射线光栅像衬成像技术的光栅品质无损检测方法.我们发现利用传统的吸收信号很容易检测到光栅电镀缺陷,而由非均匀紫外曝光导致的光栅缺陷则可以通过相衬信号进行检测.实验结果证明,在一种利用实验室光源同时产生吸收信号和相位信号的大视场实验平台上,X射线相位衬成像技术可以很好地运用到光栅缺陷的快速检测以及其他类似的电刻产品的品质检测上.

Experimental research on the feature of an x-ray Talbot–Lau interferometer versus tube accelerating voltage被引量:3

X-ray Talbot–Lau interferometer has been used most widely to perform x-ray phase-contrast imaging with a conventional low-brilliance x-ray source,and it yields high-sensitivity phase and dark-field images of samples producing low absorption contrast,thus bearing tremendous potential for future clinical diagnosis.In this work,by changing the accelerating voltage of the x-ray tube from 35 k V to 45 k V,x-ray phase-contrast imaging of a test sample is performed at each integer value of the accelerating voltage to investigate the characteristic of an x-ray Talbot–Lau interferometer(located in the Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials,Tohoku University,Japan) versus tube voltage.Experimental results and data analysis show that within a range this x-ray Talbot–Lau interferometer is not sensitive to the accelerating voltage of the tube with a constant fringe visibility of ~ 44%.This x-ray Talbot–Lau interferometer research demonstrates the feasibility of a new dual energy phase-contrast x-ray imaging strategy and the possibility to collect a refraction spectrum.

A user-friendly nano-CT image alignment and 3D reconstruction platform based on Lab VIEW

X-ray computed tomography at the nanometer scale(nano-CT) offers a wide range of applications in scientific and industrial areas. Here we describe a reliable,user-friendly,and fast software package based on Lab VIEW that may allow us to perform all procedures after the acquisition of raw projection images in order to obtain the inner structure of the investigated sample. A suitable image alignment process to address misalignment problems among image series due to mechanical manufacturing errors,thermal expansion,and other external factors has been considered,together with a novel fast parallel beam 3D reconstruction procedure that was developed ad hoc to perform the tomographic reconstruction. We have obtained remarkably improved reconstruction results at the Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility after the image calibration,the fundamental role of this image alignment procedure was confirmed,which minimizes the unwanted blurs and additional streaking artifacts that are always present in reconstructed slices. Moreover,this nano-CT image alignment and its associated 3D reconstruction procedure are fully based on Lab VIEW routines,significantly reducing the data post-processing cycle,thus making the activity of the users faster and easier during experimental runs.

衍射增强成像提取多种信息的简便方法研究被引量:2

衍射增强相位衬度成像中的信息分离研究一直以来都是相关研究人员重点关注的方向之一.本文在利用余弦函数拟合衍射增强成像中的摇摆曲线的基础上,推导出了峰位像、左腰像和右腰像的余弦函数表达式以及吸收像、折射角像和散射角方差像的解析表达式,形成了一种基于衍射增强成像的简便信息分离方法.该方法只需利用摇摆曲线左腰、右腰和峰位三幅图像,就能提取出样品的吸收、折射和散射信息,具有方法简便、样品所受辐射剂量低等优点.对模型样品和真实样品的实验结果表明,本文所提方法可成功对样品进行信息分离,并且所获得的信息分离结果可以和目前常用的多图统计方法(至少需要7张图像)获得的实验结果相比较.

X射线成像技术在昆虫形态学研究中的应用被引量:1

传统昆虫形态学研究方法对昆虫样品内外部三维信息不能进行无损的观察,严重阻碍了昆虫形态学等相关学科的发展。近年来伴随着X射线断层成像和相位衬度成像等相关X射线成像技术的发展,高分辨的、无损的观察不同尺度昆虫样品的三维形态结构成为可能。利用这一技术,可以有效地减少对生物样品的破坏,同时可以获得传统形态解剖及组织切片等方法无法获得的软组织结构的三维精细结构,推动了昆虫形态学研究迅速发展,促进了昆虫化石、动态过程及系统进化等的研究。综述了X射线成像技术在昆虫化石、动态运动及形态解剖结构研究中的应用。

Preliminary research on dual-energy X-ray phase-contrast imaging

Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA) has been widely applied to measure the bone mineral density(BMD) and soft-tissue composition of the human body. However, the use of DEXA is greatly limited for lowZ materials such as soft tissues due to their weak absorption, while X-ray phase-contrast imaging(XPCI) shows significantly improved contrast in comparison with the conventional standard absorption-based X-ray imaging for soft tissues. In this paper, we propose a novel X-ray phase-contrast method to measure the area density of low-Z materials, including a single-energy method and a dual-energy method. The single-energy method is for the area density calculation of one low-Z material, while the dual-energy method aims to calculate the area densities of two low-Z materials simultaneously. Comparing the experimental and simulation results with the theoretical ones, the new method proves to have the potential to replace DEXA in area density measurement. The new method sets the prerequisites for a future precise and low-dose area density calculation method for low-Z materials.

二维光栅角度信号响应函数研究

本文在平行相干光照明条件下,推导出了二维光栅剪切成像系统的角度信号响应函数,并描绘出了角度响应函数二维曲面.虽然光栅剪切成像系统常用的分束光栅有四种,分析光栅有三种,分析光栅和分束光栅之间还存在多种不同组合,但是产生的角度信号响应函数曲面却只有三种,即峰型位移曲面、谷型位移曲面和峰谷对称型位移曲面.其中峰型位移曲面和谷型位移曲面之间具有数值互补关系,由此还可以把峰型位移曲面和谷型位移曲面归纳为一种,最终只需要考虑两种位移曲面.这个理论结果无疑显著简化了人们对二维光栅剪切成像的认识,将对今后讨论定量提取二维角度信号的工作奠定基础.

DEIReconstructor:a software for diffraction enhanced imaging processing and tomography reconstruction

Diffraction enhanced imaging(DEI) has been widely applied in many fields, especially when imaging low-Z samples or when the difference in the attenuation coefficient between different regions in the sample is too small to be detected. Recent developments of this technique have presented a need for a new software package for data analysis. Here, the Diffraction Enhanced Image Reconstructor(DEIReconstructor), developed in Matlab, is presented. DEIReconstructor has a user-friendly graphical user interface and runs under any of the 32-bit or 64-bit Microsoft Windows operating systems including XP and Win7. Many of its features are integrated to support imaging preprocessing, extract absorption, refractive and scattering information of diffraction enhanced imaging and allow for parallel-beam tomography reconstruction for DEI-CT. Furthermore, many other useful functions are also implemented in order to simplify the data analysis and the presentation of results. The compiled software package is freely available.
