Study on fluorescence spectra of molecular association of acetic acid-water被引量:5

Fluorescence spectra of acetic acid-water solution excited by ultraviolet (UV) light are studied, and the relationship between fluorescence spectra and molecular association of acetic acid is discussed. The results indicate that when the exciting light wavelength is longer than 246 nm, there are two fluorescence peaks located at 305 and 334 nm, respectively. By measuring the excitation spectra, the optimal wavelengths of the two fluorescence peaks are obtained, which are 258 and 284 nm, respectively. Fluorescence spectra of acetic acid-water solution change with concentrations, which is primarily attributed to changes of molecular association of acetic acid in aqueous solution. Through theoretical analysis, three variations of molecular association have been obtained in acetic acid-water solution, which are the hydrated monomers, the linear dimers, and the water separated dimers. This research can provide references to studies of molecular association of acetic acid-water, especiMly studies of hydrogen bonds.

FLUORESCENCE SPECTRUM ANALYSIS OF ETHER-WATER SOLUTION BASED ON GAUSSIAN DECOMPOSITION METHOD被引量:1

The fluorescence spectrum of the ether-water solution excited by the ultraviolet light with the wavelength of 245 nm is experimentally detected. Based on the second derivative analysis, the fluorescence spectrum of the ether-water solution is used as Gaussian decomposition and seven Gaussian spectral lines are obtained. The center wavelength, the peak intensity and the half peak bandwidth of each Gaussian spectral line are measured, and the multi-peak fitting is made by using Gaussian primitive parameters. The highest and the lowest oscillation energy level differences in the ground state of each Gaussian spectrum are calculated. It is found that there are seven types of luminescent association molecules formed by ether and water molecules in different configurations existed in the solution. The location of each optimum absorption wavelength and the half peak bandwidth of the Gaussian spectral line is different. The energy level difference with the central wavelength of 304 nm attains the maximum value The result can contribute to the study of the molecular association in ether-water solution.

Formation mechanism of ethanol-water excimer

The fluorescent spectrum and the excitation spectrum were used to present the cluster molecular structure feature in ethanol-water solutions. Through analyzing the fluorescent characteristics of an excimer, it is proposed that the excimers are formed between the ethanol-water cluster molecules in the excited state and in the ground state. The fluorescent lifetime and the fluorescent intensity decay process give information about the photo-physical and photo-chemical processes of the formation and the dissociation of an excimer. The theoretical calculation and physical analysis coincide with the experimental results. The preliminary conclusion about the structure feature of ethanol-water cluster molecule is that it has a planar one like a sandwich.
