THE TOPOGRAPHIC PARAMETER SENSITIVITY TO VORTICITY PROPAGATION AND TYPHOON TANGENTIAL VELOCITY CHANGES被引量:2

A high resolution shallow-water model is designed to study the roles which the topographical parameter and latitudinal basic flow play in the propagation of vortex Rossby waves and typhoon tangential velocity changes. With no latitudinal flow, the horizontal scale effects of island terrain on the vortex Rossby waves propagation show that the disturbance vorticity follows a clockwise island-circulating path more significantly, the local maximum wind speed amplitude reduces more sharply, the maximum mean azimuthally tangential wind spins down more substantially, when the topographic horizontal scale augments. With the latitudinal basic flow, the evolution of local wind and mean velocity are affected by the distance changes between TC and the terrain and the time length of topographic action: the local wind amplitude intensifies and the mean velocity diminishes while the distance is shortening; the opposite is true while TC is away from the terrain gradually.

利用三维非静力中尺度数值模式MM5模拟了干湿大气条件中纬度典型斜压波及其锋面系统的生成与演变过程,重点讨论地表拖曳对干、湿大气中地面锋结构、锋生过程的影响作用.研究结果表明,在干大气中,地表拖曳力对地面锋锋生具有双向作用,一方面是锋消作用,主要体现在地表拖曳力减慢地面锋锋生、地面斜压波系统发展;另一方面,地表拖曳力导致强的非地转流形成,从而延长了冷锋锋生过程维持时间,有利于冷锋强度增大.同时地表拖曳力可以造成边界层内锋面近乎垂直于地面,导致锋前垂直运动增强,这些结果进一步推广了谈哲敏和伍荣生的理论结果.在湿大气中,地表拖曳过程对锋面雨带分布有重要的影响作用,地表拖曳力可减缓对流上升,从而导致地表能量的耗散减缓.当大气低层湿度较小时,对流不是很强,地表拖曳力可减缓地表水汽、能量的迅速耗散,且在锋后边界层中产生摩擦辐合上升区,这些上升区可逐渐东移到冷锋前,补偿了锋前上升带的强度,有利于冷锋降水的维持.当大气低层湿度场很强时,对流发展比较旺盛,此时地表拖曳对低层水汽与能量的束缚作用相对较弱,相应地表拖曳对锋面及其降水系统影响较小.

适应性观测及其策略问题被引量:4

从适应性观测(目标观测)概念提出后,确定进行适应性观测的时间、敏感区域的方法,即适应性观测策略得到不断发展,本文介绍了目前最主要的几种适应性观测策略,其中包括奇异矢量、繁殖矢量、伴随敏感性、集合转换Kalman滤波等适应性观测策略,以及用于台风的适应性观测策略。总结了适应性观测及其策略的相关理论问题,以及各种适应性观测策略之间的相关关系和不同,讨论了适应性观测对预报改进的影响因素,如观测误差、同化方案、模式误差等。为了实施适应性观测的业务应用、比较不同的适应性策略的适用性,国际上针对不同的高影响天气过程,在不同地区开展了一系列适应性观测外场试验。本文总结了近几年来开展的适应性观测外场试验。这些试验结果表明,平均而言适应性观测可有效地改进高影响天气过程的数值天气预报,但实施高影响性天气的适应性观测业务仍然是一个挑战性任务。

The Major Research Advances of Mesoscale Weather Dynamics in China Since 2003被引量:1

This paper reviews the main theoretical progress of mesoscale weather dynamics since 2003, including: (1) The dynamic mechanisms of balanced and unbalanced flow are applied to study the genesis and development problems of mesoscale circulation. The symmetric instability and transverse-wave instability are analyzed in line and vortex atmosphere convection, and further research has been done on nonlinear convective symmetric instability. The interaction between forced convection and unstable convection and the wave characteristics of mesoscale motion are also discussed. (2) Intermediate atmosphere dynamic boundary layer models are developed. The complicated nonlinear interaction is analyzed theoretically between the atmospheric boundary layer and the free atmosphere. The structure of the topography boundary layer, atmospheric frontogenesis, the structure and circulation of the low-level front and other boundary layer dynamic problems are discussed. (3) The formation and development of meso-β-scale rainstorms under the background of the East-Asia atmosphere circulation are diagnosed with the variation of MPV (moist potential vorticity) anomalies. And some physical vectors are modified and applied in the moist atmosphere.
