The water-soluble CdS nanoparticles were synthesized in aqueous solution. A novel fluorescence resonance energy transfer （FP, ET） system with CdS nanoparticles as energy donors and 3,3＇-diethyl-oxadicarbocyanine iodide （DOCAI） dyes as energy accepter has been developed.
