n the research on the mechanical properties of the blood vessel, it is necessary to measure three-dimensional deformation of the blood vessel. This paper presents a non-contact optical method for measuring these deformation in vitro or in vivo, and the data-processing procedure for the three-dimensional coordinate reconstruction of the aorta surface. The accuracy of this method is tested with a known cylinder. This method has been used in the study of the rabbit aorta and the result shows that it is valuable in the research on the mechanical properties of the blood vessel.
