The present paper reports an examination of the 15 bronzes unearthed from the Warring State period tomb at Gaozhuang,Huaiyin with a metal-graphic microscope,scanning electron microscope and X-ray energy disperse spectroscope.The results show that there are eight casts and seven forgings.They are thin-walled and tin-and-lead made except for one tin bronze artifact.The lead and tin content in the forgings is lower that that in the casts.Some lead and tin solder was found on a jian basin leg.In the section of soldering points,under the electron microscope,Cu6Sn5 was revealed to have pene-trated from the joint between the solder and the object body to the depth of the solder.The cause of its formation is also discussed in this report.
