By using symbolic and structural approach,the article tries to explore the afterlife ideoeogy during the Qin and the Han period in terms of two kinds of typical burial objects--tomb guardians and figurines It is argued that the function of tomb gurdians might have brought tomb-owner’s soul to the Heaven Due to the ideological change that tomb might have been regarded as the final home of tomb-owner’s soul,tomb guardians gradually were discarded and
