A series of 9-arylpolyhydroacridine derivatives were synthesized via the condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes, 1,3-cyclohexanedione or 5,5-dimethy-1,3-cyclohexanedione and ammonium acetate promoted by acidic ionic liquid [bmim]HSO4. This proposed method was simple, efficient and co- friendly.
