In the 20th Century the China mythology has gone through four stages: from seed to erection to down casting to prosperity. The boundary is the May 4th Movement, the foundation of New China, the Cultural Lag. The research of data has slowly turned to fieldwork from researching in national cultural heritage in 1920s. Since the foundation new China, it has a high tide of researching popular myths. On translating the West `s theories and data, it also goes through from brief introduce in 1920s and 1930s to putting into different categories after the Cultural Lag .the study has gained great breakthrough from theory to figure; from aesthetics to contrast in different nations as well as the history of mythology. The study in Hong Kong and Taiwan rose high in 1950s inheriting the style of Qianjia and gaining great achievement. Japan and the Soviet Union are the best in the foreign study about China myths.
