In the eyes of history,the separation,especially separation between lovers is an eternal theme in literature works.In this paper,through comparisons and contrasts between Liu Yong’s Bells in the Ringing in the Rain and John Donne’s A Valediction:Forbidding Mourning from various perspectives and different backgrounds,the similarities as well as differences between these two Chinese and English poems can be perceived.A comprehensive and better understanding of the theme of separation can be obtained as well.
